Aleksander (Olek) Borkowski

Foil Coach

Olek began his journey in 2001, earning a Master’s degree in Physical Education from Poznań’s Academy. He built upon this foundation by achieving several qualifications, including fencing and gymnastics instruction, health massage, and assuming leadership roles in camps for teenagers. By 2006, Olek had become a certified fencing instructor.

Olek’s coaching career highlights include:
– 2022: P.E. Teacher at School no. 28, Toruń, Poland.
– 2021: Vice President of the Polish Fencing Federation, specializing in foil.
– 2020: Vice President of a sports and fencing club in Toruń, Poland, and Head Coach for foil in both girls and boys at UKS 35 Bielawy.
– 2016-2020: Head Coach of Cadet, Junior, and Senior Women’s Foil, and Assistant Coach for Germany’s Olympic National Team.
– 2014-2016: Assistant Coach for the Polish National Olympic Team.
– 2010-2016: Head Coach of Cadet and Junior Women’s Foil and Second Coach of Poland’s Olympic National Team.
– 2004-2015: P.E. Teacher at School no. 28, Toruń, Poland.
– 2003-2015: Head Coach at Toruń Women’s Sports Club: TKS-T “Budowlani” Toruń.
– 2000-2009: Protector and Animator during National Toruń’s Districts at Foil.
– 2004-2009: Coach and Second Coach during Camps of National Women’s Junior Teams at Foil.
– 2006: Directly responsible for preparing competitors for the Cadet and Junior World Championship in Poland and Germany.
– 1990-2004: TKS-T “Budowlani” Foil competitor, National Polish Team Senior & Junior Member, European Champion Team in Bratislava (2008), and medalist at Polish Seniors’ Championship.

Olek’s exceptional coaching skills have yielded impressive results, including:
– 98 medals in Polish Championships.
– 30 medals in European and World Championships for Cadet, Junior, and Senior categories.
– Coaching Olympians such as Hanna Łyczbińska (Rio de Janeiro 2016) and Martyna Jelińska (Tokyo 2021).
– Guiding athletes to success at national and international levels, including Polish and German Olympic and Junior teams.

Olek’s dedication to teaching, organization, and motivation has left an indelible mark on the world of fencing, shaping champions and fostering excellence in the sport.
