Serge Shachanin’s fencing journey commenced in Belarus, where he emerged as a formidable talent. As a Senior and Junior Belarusian National Team member, Serge gained invaluable experience through extensive international competitions. He proudly represented Belarus in prestigious events such as World Cups, Grand Prix tournaments, European Championships, and World Championships, consistently displaying exceptional dedication and skill. Notably, Serge secured multiple podium finishes at the U23 European Championships in 2014 and 2015 and clinched victory in various national Belarusian competitions.

Beyond his accomplishments as an athlete, Serge pursued coaching education at the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture, where he refined his coaching skills and knowledge.

With six years of coaching experience at Zeta Fencing in Massachusetts and two years at Wellesley College, Serge Shachanin has significantly impacted the fencing journeys of numerous athletes. His dedication and guidance have propelled his students to remarkable achievements, with many consistently achieving top-eight placements in Regional Youth Circuit (RYC), Super Youth Circuit (SYC), and National competitions.
